Internship

Hanover Safe Place offers internship opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students interested in working with domestic and sexual violence survivors and supporting our agency’s outreach efforts in the community. Internships are available for J-term, one-semester, or two-semesters.

 

Internships Available:

  • Case Management Internship – Undergraduate and graduate interns will assist the Community Services Case Manager with providing case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy services to Hanover Safe Place’s clients through a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach. This internship will assist with administrative program support and provide on-call services for the Regional Hospital Accompaniment Response Team (RHART) program as needed.

  • Community Outreach Internship - Undergraduate and graduate interns assist with day-to-day administrative tasks, contribute to special projects relating to community outreach and prevention efforts, support our teen leadership program, assist with social media and communications projects, and may represent Hanover Safe Place at community events. This internship may also assist with volunteer training and other trainings in the community.

  • Counseling Internship – Graduate interns provide individual and group counseling, and other advocacy as needed to community and shelter clients. The intern will provide hotline and on-call  services for the Regional Hospital Accompaniment Response Team (RHART) program as needed.

 

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

  • Must have some availability during standard business hours (9am-5pm). Some evening and weekend hours may be available as well.

  • Must complete Hanover Safe Place’s 40-hour volunteer training before beginning any direct service with clients.

  • Must be willing to complete a background check.

  • Must commit to interning at least one semester/term.

  • Must have access to a computer and reliable transportation.
