The Hanover Domestic Violence Task Force, Inc. was created in 1990 by a small group of citizens concerned by the increasing incidents of domestic violence in Hanover County. In 1994, the Task Force became incorporated and began working to increase services to victims of domestic violence. In June of 1997, the Hanover Domestic Violence Task Force, Inc. hired its first full time staff person and opened the Hanover Domestic Violence Resource Center.
The Task Force has the representation of many citizens, businesses, and organizations in Hanover County, including the Board of Supervisors, Community Services Board, Department of Social Services, Hanover Health Department, Community Resources, Hanover Sheriff's Office, Ashland Police Department, the Hanover Public Schools, local attorneys, medical professionals, and clergy.
