Welcome Baskets for Shelter Residents

When families enter shelter, they often come without basic food preparation, laundry, and hygiene items. Welcome baskets containing these items are given to residents when they arrive in shelter and they are allowed to take the baskets with them when they leave and enter their own housing. 

Some of these items are more expensive than others. If you are interested in assisting our families with baskets we ask the following: that the baskets be complete. Hanover Safe Place would prefer that you donate 1 complete basket as opposed to several incomplete ones. 

If you or your group is interested in taking on this project we can pair it with a presentation to your group either at the beginning of your project or at the end, whichever you prefer. We can give informational presentations about agency services, history, volunteer needs, statistics and client needs. We also provide classes on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence to all age groups over 12 years.
